General Course Curriculum

Protective Detail Procedures

Includes protective detail theory and methods, protective formations, desired responses to various threat situations, weapons disarming techniques, protocol considerations, recommended deployment procedures and various kidnapping and assassination attempt studies.  Excellent films reinforce theories.
 

Principles of Attack Prevention

Surveys the various attack and kidnap phases used by terrorist and criminal groups in the country of residence and those which may be visited by the protectee(s). Methods of detecting and interrupting the attacks are emphasized.  Includes detailed studies of kidnappings and attacks on executives worldwide.
 

Advanced Planning Procedures

Provides a detailed study of state-of-the-art procedures for planning a visit by the protectee to a particular location. The essential elements of planning for the protectee's visit to specific routinely visited locations are emphasized, including a complete checklist detailing all security requirements.  Films reinforce the discussions. Also the students are challenged with performing mock advances under instructor guidance.
 

Route and Vehicle Security

Includes theory and methods of route security, evasive driving techniques, and vehicle bomb searches.  Detailed films reinforce presentations.
 

Surveillance Detection and Avoidance Techniques

Includes theory and methods used by adversaries to perform surveillance and the most effective means to detect and thwart them. Counter-surveillance techniques are studied in depth. 

Residence and Office Security

Includes theory and methods of residence and office security with emphasis on perimeter security, access control, bomb threat management, bomb search and evacuation procedures and deployment of security personnel, Excellent films reinforce presentations.

Practical Exercises

Includes conducting protective advances and "Working the Principal" exercises.  The reactions of the participants to the various attacks and threatening situations are filmed (with audio) and critiqued by the participants themselves.  The instructor guides the critique exploring the full range of alternatives that may have been available to the protection team.
 

Evasive Driving (optional)

Hands-on evasive maneuvers are practiced to include: escape from a road blockade, emergency braking exercises, vehicle control exercises and escape to the rear.
 

Firearms Training (optional)

Instruction and exercises specially tailored to the experience and needs of the attendees.
 

Executive Life Support (optional)

Includes a review of CPR, Heimlich maneuver, shock and stopping of bleeding. The participants practice the Heimlich maneuver and CPR using a mannequin.
